Chepang Hill Trek is the most popular Trekking route in Chitwan that passes through the Chepang Village. Chepangs are one of the marginalized ethnic groups in Nepal. Basic and modern lifestyle are beyond the reach of these innocent people due to extreme poverty. Chepang Hill Trek trail begins through the unexplored beautiful hillsides of Chitwan at the moderate altitude of Mahabharat range. The view includes a range of Himalayan peaks such as Rolwaling, Dorche Lakpa, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Manaslu Range, Himalchuli, Anapurna range, Dhaulagiri. You will have a spectacular sunrise and sunsets view, cultural experiences of chepang groups, bird watching and other natural attractions during the whole trekking.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
    Today, upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, we will welcome you and transfer to hotel.
  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
    Today, after having breakfast you will have sightseeing of Kathmandu valley. Your guide will come with a private car at your hotel. You will visit some of the famous world heritage sites like Boudhanath Stupa, Swyambhunath stua, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square etc.
  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Hungdi (309m)
    After breakfast, we will pickup you from your hotel and start a long day journey for about 4-5 hours by bus to Hungdi. In the evening, visit Hungdi Bazaar. It’s a market place offering beautiful traditional and cultural life. Spend your night at a hotel.
  • Day 04: Start trek from Hungdi to Hatti bag (1410m)
    Today start your trek for about five hours from Hungdi Bazaar to Hatti bag. It is a beautiful village with magnificent mountain views. It Offers a good scenery of the surrounding mountains and touch of Magar, Chepang and Giripuri culture. Here you stay overnight in local homes or community-managed guest houses.
  • Day 05: Trek from Hatti bang to Jyandala (1600m)
    Today, you will have a spectacular views of the mountains and magnificent sunrise and sunset. The view includes a wide range of Himalayan peaks such as Rolwaling, Gauri Shankar, Langtang, Gorkha Himal, Peak 29, Himal chhuli, Manaslu, Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri.
  • Day 06: Trek from Jyandala to Upper Dangadhi (1275m)
    Today, the trail goes through forests and grazing fields, with views varying between the Himalayas and the plains of the Terai. We will have a view of mountain ranges, sunrise and sunset at Siraichuli. Moving ahead from Siraichuli to Chisapanitar is also a splendid one. We would be fortunate enough to watch varieties of birds on the trail. The dense forest in this region is homeland to other wild animals and birds. The trail leads you through an ever changing landscape to Upper Dangadhi. Nature and the spectacular views make it an ideal place to stay overnight with local families.
  • Day 07: Upper Dangadhi to Saktikhor (355m)
    The trail from Gadhi to Saktikhor is about six hours working. You can visit Chepang Museum and Visitor’s information centre, Caves and waterfalls around Saktikhor. Home-stay experience and Cultural shows can be experienced as per the demand. Also from here you can visit Chitwan National Park, you can do a one of two days rafting in Trishuli River.
  • Day 08: Saktikhor back to Kathmandu by bus
    Today take an early drive bus to Kathmandu valley which is about 6-7 hours journey. Enjoy viewing the natural landscapes and the greenery hills on the way long Trishuli River. Spend your night at hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 09: Final Departure
    Today, we will drop you to the airport before 3 hours your flight time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see typical Nepali villages during the trek?

Absolutely! You can get the typical Nepali villages and feel and learn Nepali culture in the trek as most of the trekking routes are in the countryside.

Should I be fit for the trekking?

For the easy and low altitude trekking you don’t need to be worried about the fitness. Trekkers are requested to do jogging, swimming, long walking and bicycling for few weeks before the trekking starts.

Is there problem to trek for elderly people?

For the elderly people we walk slowly. We have done trekking with people at the age of around 75 and it went very well. They enjoyed and did not face any problem.

Can I trek with the kids?

Definitely! If the kids are under five years old, we do not recommend trekking above 3000 meters. There are many beautiful trekking trails with wonderful views below 3000 meters that are perfect to trek with the small children.

In case of helicopter rescue needed who will pay the money?

The tourists will pay all the expenses by themselves.

Can I talk to my family or friends from the trekking?

In most of the trekking routes, phone services are available where you can call from. But in some long-distanced trekkings, you may not have phone access for a couple of days or you may have phone access only once you reach at the hotel in the evening.

Are trekking guides and porters are entitled to life insurance ?

All our staff have life insurance. They and provided the proper cloths and other necessary equipments.

Do I get picked-up from the Airport?

Our office representative meet the guests just outside of the terminal hall with a play card in the name of the guests and our office name. Guests are dropped at the hotel by our staff with a private car.
